Less than 1,400 of the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 945 were produced; they are denoted by the serial prefix "LEW" and had serial numbers ranging from LEW0001-LEW1368, with this particular example bearing serial #LEW0654!
These examples are highly sought after by collectors and almost never surface on the open market in this condition and complete.
The owner states that this example remains New Old Stock and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise.

The S&W 945 is a single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP. It comes with eight-round magazines with Performance Center markings. The pistol is available in a bead-blasted stainless finish or a polished blackened finish. It features an ambidextrous frame-mounted thumb safety and beavertail grip safety. The slightly beveled magazine well ensures quick and easy reloads of the 8-round magazines. Although the S&W 945 closely resembles a 1911, it is not compatible with 1911 magazines and vice versa. The extended magazine release allows for easy engagement but has a firm spring to prevent accidental release. Positive firm engagement with the magazine release is required to drop the magazine.
