The Smith & Wesson Performance Center SW1911 is a premium, high-end rendition of the classic M1911 platform that takes an already revered design and elevates it through meticulous gunsmithing and custom features developed by Smith & Wesson Performance Center — the company’s in-house custom shop dedicated to precision and performance enhancements. Built around a stainless steel slide and frame with a traditional .45 ACP chambering, the Performance Center SW1911 maintains the Government-length 5" barrel and single-action operation of the classic 1911 but adds a suite of refined touches that set it apart from standard production models. These include a Performance Center action job that results in a smooth, crisp trigger pull, typically in the 3.5–4 lb range; a throated, match-grade barrel; a precision-crowned muzzle for enhanced accuracy; and a polished feed ramp and spherical barrel bushing to promote reliable feeding and tight lockup. The slide is often adorned with lightning ports that reduce reciprocating mass and lend a distinctive look, while ambidextrous frame safeties enhance ergonomics for right- and left-handed shooters, and an adjustable rear sight paired with a serrated front post allows precise sighting. The Performance Center SW1911 typically feeds 8+1 rounds from a single-column magazine and features custom blue or G10 grips with fine checkering (e.g., 30 LPI) to aid recoil control.
