The Colt Bisley was first introduced in 1894 as a target pistol and was named after the famous firing range in Bisley, England. You can recognize the Colt Bisley by its longer grip, wider hammer spur, and wider trigger. The Bisleys were assigned serial numbers in the range of 156300–331916, which follows the same sequence as the Single Action Army. This revolver would be a great addition to any collection, whether you plan to display it as-is or restore it!

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Presented here is a C&R Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver chambered in .32 WCF, which was manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1904. During the American Civil War, Colt secured the largest contracts of any handgun maker but had to rely on percussion-fired revolvers like the 1860 Army, until the Smith & Wesson-owned Rollin White Patent expired in 1869. This allowed Colt to create revolvers with completely bored-through cylinder chambers in order to use modern metallic cartridge ammunition more effectively. Colt began developing a suitable cartridge revolver in earnest in 1869 and first released a number of conversions for their percussion lines. In 1872, they debuted the Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army in the 1872 U.S. Trials, which won and became the Army’s preferred revolver. It also became the sidearm of choice for cowboys, guards, lawmen, crooks, shopkeepers, and all manner of civilians.
The Colt Single Action Army revolver had a Bisley variant, which differed from the original with a lower hammer spur and a more curvaceous grip frame. These changes were optimized for target shooting, but many general shooters who weren't simply target shooters preferred them as well.
