Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Pocket Positive is a double-action revolver that was introduced as an improved version of the New Pocket model. It features Colt's "Positive Safety" which is a steel bar that moves down inside the action as the trigger is pulled, allowing the hammer to move forward and fire the cartridge. This safety feature adds an extra layer of protection to the Colt rebounding hammer safety of the New Pocket model, making it safer in case of accidental drops on the hammer. The Pocket Positive's design was finalized with this safety feature and it remained in use by Colt until 1969. Later on, during World War Two, competitor S&W introduced a similar hammer blocking safety device.
