The M1911, also known as Colt 1911 or Colt Government, is a single-action, recoil-operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. The pistol's formal U.S. military designation as of 1940 was Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911 for the original model adopted in March 1911, and Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1 for the improved M1911A1 model which entered service in 1926. The designation changed to Pistol, Caliber .45, Automatic, M1911A1 in the Vietnam War era.

Philip Robert Feir was born in Bemidji, MN, the son of Marjorie L. and Abner E. Feir. His first assignment was in Trieste, Italy, with the 351st Infantry Regiment. He was assigned to the Advanced Infantry course at Fort Benning, GA, followed, where he became both Airborne and Ranger qualified. General Feir joined the 25th Infantry Divison in Hawaii and Deployed with the unit to Vietnam as a lieutenant colonel where he commanded the 2nd Battalion,35th Infantry. In 1971, he assumed command of 1st Brigade (Separate), 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, and following his selection for promotion to brigadier general he became the Assistant Divison Commander of the 25th Infantry Divison. In 1975, Phil was assigned to the pentagon as Assistant Deputy Chief of staff, Development and Acquisition, Headquarters, Department of the Army. He retired in 1981, Phil receiving the Distinguished Service Medal, having earlier been awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star Medals for gallantry in combat. In retirement, Phil worked as an associate and later vice president for Army programs with Burdeshaw Associates in Bethesda, MD.

As you can see in the many high resolution photos, this M1911 is in Excellent condition showing what we believe to be much less than normal evidence of use and handling over the years! Additionally, it will come with the three magazines, shoulder holster and mag holder.
