The Colt Police Positive was an improved version of the New Police, which added Colt's "Positive Safety" feature. It was a popular choice among police departments due to its small size and lightweight design. This revolver was produced in various forms from 1907 to 1947 and was available in .32 Colt, .32 Colt New Police, and .38 New Police (which is essentially the same as .38 S&W). It came with barrels ranging from 2 1/2" to 6" and was available in bright blue and bright nickel finishes. The First Issue used hard rubber grips until 1923, after which checkered walnut with silver Colt medallions became the standard. The First Issue was manufactured from 1907 to 1927.
