The Winchester Model 1912 is a pump-action shotgun that was produced for over 50 years, from 1912 to 1964. It was also known as the Winchester 1912, Model 12, or M12. The shotgun has an internal-hammer and an external tube magazine. Upon its introduction, it was nicknamed the "Perfect Repeater" and became the standard for pump-action shotguns. Winchester produced nearly two million Model 12 shotguns in various grades and barrel lengths. Initially, it was only chambered for 20 gauge, but later versions for 12 and 16 gauge were introduced in 1913, and the 28 gauge version was released in 1934. Although a .410 version was never produced, a scaled-down version of the Model 12 called the Model 42 was produced in .410.
