Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Colt introduced its first large frame, swing-out cylinder revolver in 1898. This revolver was known as the Colt New Service and remained Colt's large-frame revolver until WWII. The New Service was an immediate hit among military and civilian buyers who were looking for a large and powerful revolver with the new swing-out cylinder design. It quickly became extremely popular and large numbers were produced. Over the years, the New Service was made in a variety of chamberings, including .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .38-40, .44-40, .44 Russian, .44 Special, .45 ACP, .45 Long Colt, .450 Eley, .455 Eley, and .476 Eley. Additionally, it was produced in several versions, including official issue US military and foreign military and police models. The New Service was manufactured from 1898 to 1942. During this period, it had hard black rubber grips with molded-in checkering and Colt logos from 1898 to the late 1920s. After that, it came with checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions. It was available in barrel lengths of 4", 4 1/2", 5", 5 1/2", 6", and 7 1/2". Finishes included blue, bright nickel, and dull brushed blue for military models.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
