The Winchester Model 54, introduced in 1925, was Winchester Repeating Arms Company's first successful civilian bolt-action rifle designed for high-velocity centerfire cartridges. Drawing inspiration from the Mauser 98 action, the Model 54 featured a controlled-round-feed system, a two-stage trigger, and a three-position wing safety. It was chambered in various calibers, including the .30-06 Springfield, .270 Winchester, .22 Hornet, .220 Swift, and .257 Roberts, catering to a wide range of hunting and shooting needs. Over its 12-year production run, approximately 50,000 Model 54 rifles were manufactured. They were offered in several configurations, including standard rifles, carbines, Super Grade models, and target variants, each with distinct features such as barrel lengths ranging from 20 to 26 inches and varying stock designs.
