Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this vintage double-action revolver for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt Officer's Model Target (Third Issue)!
This Officer's Model Target pistol was custom scroll engraved by renowned engraver John F. Adams Sr. of Adams & Adams Engraving, featuring intricate “A” style coverage, with Adams’ signature “J.A.” proudly inscribed on the left side of the grip frame as a mark of craftsmanship and a letter of authenticate.

The Colt Officer's Model Target, introduced in 1904, was Colt’s first medium-frame double-action target revolver, setting a new standard for precision shooting. It quickly became Colt’s premium revolver, known for its accuracy and craftsmanship. Produced under various names until 1969, the Officer's Model series was favored by competitive shooters during an era when revolvers dominated shooting matches. Colt’s reputation in the world of competitive shooting was solidified by the Officer’s Model, which held numerous records. The revolver was the choice of champions and remained at the forefront of Colt’s offerings until the debut of the Python in 1955, a model that would eventually be regarded as the super-premium revolver.

The Officer's Model Target Third Issue, introduced in 1927 and produced until 1949, came in several calibers, including .22LR, .32 Colt, and .38 Special. Notably, the .32 Colt variant was available only before the war. In 1935, Colt introduced a heavy barrel option to enhance the revolver's stability and precision, catering to the needs of serious target shooters. After World War II, the model was streamlined to only offer the 6" barrel, reflecting a shift in the market toward more standardized configurations. The revolver’s classic checkered walnut grips, embellished with silver medallions, added a touch of elegance to its functionality. The Officer’s Model Target was celebrated for its exceptional performance and remains a significant part of Colt’s legacy in competitive revolvers.
