Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Woodsman is a semi-automatic pistol designed by John Moses Browning and manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company from 1915 to 1977. The pistol underwent three distinct series of frame design changes: series one (1915-1941), series two (1947-1955), and series three (1955-1977). The original design of the Woodsman was created by Browning, but it was refined by Colt's gunsmiths and designers before its release in 1915. To create a handgun intended for target shooting, Browning omitted the grip safety, hammer, and shortened the slide - features that were present in his Model 1903 and 1911 designs. The Woodsman line includes three models in each series: Target, Sport, and Match Target. The name "Woodsman" wasn't used until 1927.

The first series models are highly collectible and are known for their superior fit and finish. These pistols are considered to be of a higher quality than many guns produced today, which only adds to their collectibility.
