Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Springfield Armory M1 Garand is a legendary semi-automatic rifle that played a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of World War II and the Korean War. This specific example, chambered in .30-06 Springfield, was originally produced in February 1943 by Springfield and later re-barreled with a coveted VAR (Våbenarsenal – Denmark) barrel, dated March 1960. These Danish VAR barrels are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and superior accuracy, making this Garand particularly attractive to shooters and collectors alike. The 24-inch barrel is fitted with the traditional wing-protected blade front sight and an adjustable aperture rear sight, providing the precise, battle-ready sight picture the M1 is famous for. Finished in a classic Parkerized phosphate coating, the rifle retains over 90% of its original finish, with light wear primarily at the muzzle—an indication of careful use rather than abuse.

This M1 Garand is built on a smooth North American walnut stock, which is free from cracks, chips, or structural damage, and remains true to the rifle’s original configuration. Markings include Danish proof marks, such as the VAR crown, model numbers, and property codes, which reflect the rifle’s service under a U.S. military lease program with Denmark during the Cold War era. Notably, this rifle is not import marked, further elevating its desirability among serious collectors. All parts appear to be matching, with the exception of the breech block cover, which is marked "WRA"—a likely in-service replacement from Winchester. The mechanical condition is excellent, featuring a clean, bright bore with strong rifling and no evidence of corrosion or pitting. With its strong World War II lineage, rare VAR barrel, and collector-grade condition, this M1 Garand is more than just a historic firearm—it’s a highly collectible, investment-grade piece of military history that continues to appreciate in both performance and value.
