The Turkish M1938 (K.Kale) Mauser was a Mauser-98–style rifle produced in Turkey during World War II at the Kirikkale Rifle Factory (K.Kale). Approximately 250,000 receivers were made between 1940 and 1946. Early production often included conversions of surplus German Gew. 98 actions (sometimes marked ATF for Ankara Tüfek Fabrikasi), while later rifles used purpose-made Turkish receivers. The receivers are stamped T.C. / AS FA / Ankara, often accompanied by a star-and-crescent symbol and the year of production. Mechanically, the rifle employs the classic Mauser-98 design, featuring dual locking lugs, a third safety lug, a non-rotating claw extractor, a mechanical ejector, a three-position wing safety, and compatibility with stripper clips. A distinctive Turkish feature is that the receivers were bored and threaded for small-shank barrels, rather than the large-ring barrels common on German Mausers, which adds strength.

Standard rifles typically have a 29 1/4-inch barrel, a full-length walnut stock, a dovetailed front sight, and a V-notch tangent rear sight. Many rifles were assembled from a mix of new and rebuilt components, so fully matching rifles are uncommon.
