Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Winchester Model 75 was a bolt-action .22 LR rifle produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company from 1938 to 1958, with approximately 88,715 units manufactured. Developed as a more affordable alternative to the high-end Model 52, it was marketed as a precision rifle suitable for school rifle teams, target shooting, and recreational use. The rifle featured a five- or ten-round detachable box magazine and was available in Target and Sporter configurations. The Target model, in particular, was highly regarded for its precision, featuring a 28-inch tapered heavy barrel, adjustable Redfield or other precision sights, and a heavy target stock designed for stability and accuracy. Its well-fitted bolt and precision chamber contributed to its reputation as a reliable and accurate rifle, making it a popular choice for competitive and recreational shooters alike. The Sporter variant had a shorter barrel and lighter stock for general use. Approximately 16,000 Model 75 rifles were purchased and used by the U.S. military during World War II for training purposes. Produced in substantial numbers, the Model 75 remains a highly collectible target rifle today.
