Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Model 12 is a pump-action 12-gauge shotgun that is iconic in that it has the classic features that make a pump gun so appealing. It may not be the first, but it certainly trained generations how to shoot airborne game among many other things. Most people can relate to seeing their parents grandparents shooting a model 12 as they were growing up.
When it was introduced, the Model 12 was only available in 20 gauge, 12- and 16-gauge Model 12s became available in late 1913. A 28-gauge Model 12 was brought out in 1934. Sadly, this is the rarest of Model 12s, probably as a result of The Depression and the fact that the 28 gauge—as wonderful as it is—was the prerogative of those with a fair amount of discretionary cash, something sorely lacking during The Depression and World War II.
This example is a Skeet Gun, with extended slide handle, capped grip stock and 26" solid-rib barrel choked Skeet. Produced in 1953, this shotgun is from the middle of the post-war production of the original model 12 guns. It is in EXCELLENT condition, appearing to have spent more of its life in a safe than the field. Winchester Model 12s tend to be collectible in general, but 28 Gauge Guns even more. A 28 Gauge with Skeet choke bore in this example’s condition is well worth adding to any collection!
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
