Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this sought-after semi-automatic pistol for a penny-start auction; this is the Hi-Standard "Olympic" Model 0-101!

This High Standard “Olympic” Model 0-101, serial #481306 (1954), is a remarkably complete and rare example of one of America’s finest .22 Short target pistols. Featuring both 4.5" and 6.75" barrels, original 2-ounce and 3-ounce barrel weights, and even the seldom-seen additional front sight, this set retains all its original competition components—items that are often lost to time. Recently housed in a partitioned briefcase for preservation (according to the owner), it remains in outstanding condition despite being a seasoned competitor at numerous National Shooting events. A true veteran of the firing line, this Olympic carries a history of precision marksmanship and the kind of character that only decades of competitive use can impart.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Hi-Standard “Olympic” Model 0-101 is a purpose-built .22 Short semi-automatic target pistol that reflects the company’s reputation for precision manufacturing during the golden age of American target shooting. Produced primarily in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the Olympic was engineered for rapid-fire and competitive bullseye disciplines where split-second follow-up shots and absolute consistency were critical. Chambered in .22 Short, it benefits from minimal recoil impulse, allowing shooters to maintain sight alignment and trigger discipline between shots. The pistol’s fixed barrel and tight slide-to-frame fit enhance inherent accuracy, while its blowback-operated action is tuned for the smaller cartridge, ensuring smooth cycling. Its long, flat-topped rib with a micro-adjustable rear sight and crisp, target-grade trigger are hallmarks of Hi-Standard’s competitive designs, giving the shooter precise sight control and a break that supports accuracy under time pressure. The Model 0-101 also stands out for its balance and ergonomics. The steel frame is paired with finely contoured walnut target grips that encourage a high, repeatable hold, aiding in consistent shot placement. Weighing enough to steady the sight picture without becoming fatiguing, it delivers the kind of “natural point of aim” feel that competitive shooters prize. The Olympic’s craftsmanship reflects the period’s emphasis on quality machining and attention to detail, with a deep polished blue finish that adds both durability and visual appeal. While the .22 Short chambering limited its use outside of dedicated target sports, it made the Olympic a favorite in international rapid-fire events before the adoption of modern competition pistols. Today, the Hi-Standard “Olympic” Model 0-101 is both a collectible piece and a still-capable performer on the range, representing an era when American firearms design placed a premium on elegance, precision, and competitive excellence.
