The Colt Single Action Buntline Frontier Scout – F-Series was introduced in 1958 as an evolution of the original Q-series, offering collectors and shooters a lightweight, rimfire single-action revolver with classic Colt styling. The F-series came in both duotone (“in-the-white”) and all-blue finishes, and introduced the iconic Buntline variant with a 9 1/2-inch barrel and optional walnut grips. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, the F-series also added .22 Magnum (WMR) chambering in 1959, with dual-cylinder models becoming available by 1964 to allow shooters to switch between calibers. Production refinements included pinned barrels starting in 1964 to prevent loosening from the alloy frame, and decorative scrollwork on the grip frame added a distinctive touch. The F-series remained in production through 1971, with roughly 246,000 units made, including standard and Buntline models, making it one of the most collectible and recognizable variants of the Colt Frontier Scout line.
