This Model 29 comes with several letters from the Smith & Wesson production manager and the H.H. Harris Company. As per the letter received from Smith & Wesson, the gun was initially purchased by Mrs. Catherine Ford. Mrs. Ford gave the gun to Robert Stickell as a Christmas gift in December 1959.

"This example was assembled at the S&W factory during the Christmas shutdown. Per the letters that accompany this example, a Lady by the name Mrs. Ford had written S&W politely pleading for a model 29 for a Christmas present. The factory floor foreman wrote back to Mrs. Ford explaining that "somehow we will get to you a 29 before Christmas, as there has to be enough parts around this factory for just one more"

This exceptional firearm boasts a rich history that has only added to its already highly-regarded reputation. Its unique characteristics and remarkable backstory make it a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add this distinguished firearm to your collection today!

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a double-action revolver that uses the .44 Magnum cartridge to hold six shots. This firearm was produced by Smith & Wesson, a company based in the United States. The standard Smith & Wesson Model 29 models come in different barrel sizes, such as 3, 4, 5, 6, 6 1⁄2, 8 3⁄8, and 10 5⁄8 inches. However, other barrel lengths are available by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or can be custom-built by gunsmiths. The version with a 5-inch barrel has a full-length underlug.

The Model 29 had two finish options: a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface. It was first introduced as one of the most powerful production handguns available. However, it was later surpassed by other handguns chambered for even larger cartridges, such as the .454 Casull and .50 Action Express. The Smith & Wesson Model 29 gained worldwide fame by being associated with the fictional character Dirty Harry Callahan.
