Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger Single-Six is a classic single-action rimfire revolver manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Co. First introduced in June 1953, the Single-Six quickly gained popularity for its reliability, accuracy, and traditional western styling. It was designed as a rugged and affordable option for target shooting, small game hunting, and general plinking. This particular model, the Single Six Magnum, is chambered in .22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire), offering higher velocity and performance compared to standard .22 LR variants. It features a 6½-inch barrel, providing excellent balance and improved accuracy. The blued finish gives the revolver a clean, traditional appearance that complements its classic design. Prior to 1973, Single-Six revolvers were produced without a transfer bar mechanism. This older design made it less safe to carry the revolver fully loaded, as the hammer rested directly on a live chamber. To address this, Ruger introduced the transfer bar safety system, which only allows the revolver to fire when the trigger is deliberately pulled. For safety-conscious owners of early models, Ruger continues to offer a free upgrade to install the transfer bar safety mechanism. The Single Six Magnum is equipped with a round blade front sight and a square notch rear sight, delivering a crisp and reliable sight picture. The smooth walnut grips feature black and silver Ruger eagle medallions, adding both aesthetic appeal and a firm hold. With its single-action operation, durable construction, and timeless style, the Ruger Single-Six remains a beloved revolver among rimfire enthusiasts and collectors.
