Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Winchester Model 12 Skeet WS-1 represents one of the finest purpose-built American shotguns tailored specifically for the sport of skeet shooting. Introduced during the golden age of American shotgun manufacturing, the Model 12—often referred to as “The Perfect Repeater”—was renowned for its smooth action, robust construction, and elegant lines. The Skeet variant, fitted with a WS-1 (Winchester Skeet No. 1) choke, was designed to deliver a wide, evenly distributed shot pattern ideal for the close-range, fast-paced nature of skeet targets. Chambered typically in 12, 20, 28 gauge, or even .410, the Model 12 Skeet in 12 gauge was a particular favorite among competitive shooters. The WS-1 choke offered a distinct advantage in station-to-station shooting, where quick target acquisition and reliable spread patterns were essential. These guns featured a shorter barrel, usually 26 inches, paired with a solid rib or ventilated rib for quick sight alignment. The walnut stocks were finely checkered and often came with a slightly rounded pistol grip and factory-installed rubber recoil pads, emphasizing both control and comfort.
