Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The C-series is a pistol that utilizes straight blowback and is designed as a pocket-sized weapon. It falls in size between the H and E series pistols and all C models utilize the .25 ACP (6.35 mm) cartridge. Essentially, this is a larger version of the E model (or later, Starlite). All C-series pistols have a single-action mechanism, are steel-framed, and feature a fixed barrel. The reciprocating slide is located at the rear third and sides of the top end of the weapon. The barrel is visible above the forward portion of the slide and does not move when firing. The extractor is located at the 12 o'clock position.

In 1956, production of the Model CO pistols was discontinued in favor of an upgraded C series called the Model CU. This pistol remained in production until 1973. The primary modifications made to the Model CU version were to equip it with a conventional thumb safety, enlarge the magazine release, slightly lengthen and flare the grip frame at the bottom, and make various other minor changes. The stocks were available in black or brown checkered plastic with the Star logo. The pistol was offered with black or chromed slides and anodized frames in black, "RAF Blue," "Forest Green," "Antique Gold," and "Steel Gray." These colors may have been available with other models as well and seem to have replaced the factory engraving package of the CO.
