Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Single Action Army (also known as the SAA, Model P, Peacemaker, or M1873) is a single-action revolver handgun. It was designed for the U.S. government service revolver trials of 1872 by Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company (today known as Colt's Manufacturing Company). The Colt SAA has been offered in over 30 different calibers and various barrel lengths. Its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1873. Colt has canceled its production twice but brought it back due to popular demand. The revolver was dubbed the "Peacemaker", and is a famous piece of Americana and the American Wild West era, due to its popularity with ranchers, lawmen, and outlaws alike.

Today, they are mainly bought as memorabilia by collectors and re-enactors. Its design has influenced the production of numerous other models from other companies. The SAA, at one time or another, was offered in dozens of calibers from .22 rimfire to .476 Eley, though the .45 Colt has always been the most common. A scaled-down .22 rimfire version called the Scout or Frontier Scout was available in the late 20th century.

The territory that would become Nebraska was sparsely populated, primarily by various American Indian tribes, until the mid-19th century when the Homestead Act spurred a massive influx of settlers from the United States. The migration further accelerated after the Civil War ended, and by 1867, only two years after the war, enough settlers had arrived to allow Nebraska to apply for statehood. Finally, on March 1st, 1867, Nebraska became the 37th state to join the union. The capital was moved from Omaha to Lancaster, which was renamed Lincoln in honor of the then-recently assassinated President. Nebraska has been a vibrant part of the United States ever since.

In 1967, Colt produced a limited edition single action frontier scout to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nebraska becoming the 37th state to join the union. These revolvers featured a gold-finished frame, barrel, and trigger, and a blue-finished cylinder and grip frame. They also came with faux white pearl grips with gold Colt medallions inlaid and were presented in a wooden case. Only 7,000 were produced, making them highly sought after by Colt collectors.
