Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 15 is a double-action revolver that can hold six shots. It features adjustable open sights and is produced by Smith & Wesson on the medium-size "K" frame. It uses the .38 Special cartridge with a 4-inch barrel. However, additional barrel options are available at different times during its production. The Model 15 is essentially a shorter barrel version of the Smith & Wesson Model 14 and has target-shooting features.
The Model 15 was introduced in 1949. It was originally called the Smith & Wesson K-38 Combat Masterpiece. 1957, all Smith & Wesson revolvers were given numerical model numbers, and the K-38 Combat Masterpiece became the Model 15. The Model 15 was in production for 50 years until 1999, when it was discontinued for approximately a decade. There were only brief, limited runs in the Heritage Series line. In 2011, a retooled Model 15 was re-released under the Classics Revolvers line and remained in production until 2013.
