"The "BB" stamped with the serial number indicates that subject pistol is one of approximately 1,000 units from a pre-production run of Series '70 pistols featuring the new Accurizor barrel and split bushing."
Approximately 1,000 of these BB series were produced and were the last in the series before the new 70 series pistols would succeed them. The serial number range for these BB Transitional pistols are in the 332500-C to 336169-C range.

This is a "BB Series"...a transitional pistol between the "Pre-Series 70" and the Series 70 itself. It has the rollmarkings of the Pre-Series 70 and falls within the same serial number range with the C suffix. These were the first pistols to be factory fitted with the new Series 70 style flared barrel with the 4-fingered collet bushing which was intended to improve accuracy. They can be readily identified by the "BB" that is stamped below the serial number on the frame and again on the barrel over the chamber.
