Texas is a place where a man has the room to grow. A vast, rugged land strong enough to support both ranchers and oil riggers, symphonies, and astronauts. It’s where the Alamo and the Astrodome stand side by side, where the past and present converge, both reaching for the stars. Texas—a frontier of freedom for 125 years. Even before becoming a state on December 29, 1845, Texas was shaped by a rich blend of diverse heritage, having been governed by six different flags. It’s a land where figures like Stephen F. Austin, with wisdom and faith, transformed a small group of American settlers into a thriving nation. It’s where leaders like Sam Houston fought to defend Texas in war and guided it toward peace. It’s a land carved by leathery cattlemen who forged the Chisholm Trail and oilmen who built empires of black gold. The same firm-handed ancestors whose modern-day descendants are the growing, vibrant Texas of today.
To honor this proud heritage, in 1970, Winchester introduced two new commemorative models: the Lone Star Commemorative Model 94 Rifle and Carbine. These guns celebrate the 125 years of Texas’s bold history. The Winchester-Western Division of Olin Corporation has designed and produced a special limited edition rifle and carbine to commemorate the State of Texas as the frontier of freedom. Each firearm is certified as part of this exclusive issue, manufactured between January 1, 1970, and December 31, 1970.
