Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The "2nd Generation" Model 1851 Navy revolver was manufactured between 1971 and 1978, also known as the "C"-series. Some subcontractors supplied small parts or forgings, but every completed pistol was produced according to Colt's strict quality control and specifications. Colt performed the final inspection, so even though some work was done outside the factory, collectors typically consider these revolvers to be original Colts rather than reproductions.

The Colt Navy was designed to be a sturdier, more durable version of the earlier Colt Pocket revolver. It has a six-shot cylinder and a 7.5-inch octagonal barrel. The revolver boasts a case-colored frame, a blued steel barrel, a one-piece walnut grip, and “Robert E. Lee Commemorative Nineteen Seventy-One” inscribed on the left side of the barrel. The cylinder is engraved with a battle scene from the Mexican-American war. This revolver has strong mechanics, a bright bore, all matching numbers, an included box, and numerous accessories, making it a fantastic case set.
