Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Llama Firearms, which was officially known as Llama-Gabilondo y Cia SA, was a Spanish arms company that was established in 1904 under the name Gabilondo and Urresti. The company had its headquarters in Eibar, located in the Basque Country of Spain, and also had workshops in different locations such as Elgoibar and Vitoria. Llama Firearms produced a wide range of moderate-priced revolvers and self-chambering pistols, which were available in various models. These firearms were particularly popular in the European and Latin American export markets, as well as in Spain itself. The Llama III-A was a self-loading pistol that was manufactured from 1954 to 1997. It used blowback operation, but earlier models up to about 1975 used locked breech. This pistol was a miniature copy of Colt 1911 and was chambered in 9 mm Corto/.380 ACP. It had a seven-round magazine and was equipped with a grip safety and a longer manual safety lever. The earlier models had a lanyard ring, but later models replaced it with a ventilated rib and plastic target grips. This pistol was available in luxury finishes, such as gold plating, and various engraving options. The Llama III-A was one of the most successful models in the Llama range.
