Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Richland Arms Co. Navy 1851 is a modern replica of the famed Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver, one of the most iconic percussion handguns of the 19th century. Produced primarily during the 1970s and early 1980s, Richland Arms imported these revolvers from European manufacturers—most often from Spain or Italy—during a period when historical-style black powder arms were in high demand among shooters and reenactors. Like the original Colt, the Navy 1851 replica typically features a steel frame, octagonal barrel, and the familiar .36 caliber chambering, along with period-correct loading lever and traditional percussion ignition. Fit and finish vary slightly by production year and partner manufacturer, but the guns were generally regarded as solid, affordable reproductions intended for recreational shooting rather than collecting at the highest tier.
