Bryant Ridge Auction Company is pleased to present this unique and scarce double action revolver today for a penny start auction, this is the Smith & Wesson 53-2 also known as the .22 Centerfire Magnum "The Jet" (C&R)!

The Model 53 is a .22 Remington Jet/.22Long Rifle, double-action revolver built on the square butt K target frame with 4-screws, blue finish, 4", 6" or 8 3/8" barrel lengths available, 6-shot fluted cylinder and counterbored cylinder with a nominal length of 1.67", oversized walnut target grips wiht S&W medallions and diamonds around the screw escutcheon or smooth rosewood stocks. All jets were supplied with nickel wash-coated steel inserts to fire the .22 Long Rifle cartridges. The inserts have a cutout along the rim to allow a fingernail or knife edge to remove the spent .22 LR cartridge. A large S&W trademark is found on the sideplate. This K target centerfire frame is manufactured with a "switch" on the hammer to select one of the dual firing pins for either center fire for rimfire. .22 Magnum is stamped on the ribbed and pinned barrel, it also features a serrated backstrap and forestrap with 10 grooves each. A total of 14,956 Model 53's were produced from 1961-1974.
Condition and Contents:
As you can see in the many high resolution photos, this Smith is in PHENOMENAL condition showing no indications of regular consumer use or hanlding that we can see whatsoever! Additionally, it will ship with the original factory labeled box, 6 nickel wash-coated steel inserts, and all contents pictured above.
