Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Brno Arms, the post-war successor to the earlier Ceskoslovenská zbrojovka, carried forward a long tradition of precision arms manufacturing in Czechoslovakia. Established in 1918 as the State Armament and Engineering Works, the company initially assembled rifles such as the Gewehr 98 and Mannlicher M1895 before transitioning to its own in-house designs. Its reputation for robust construction and excellent machining grew steadily throughout the interwar period and continued—even under German occupation—when the factory was directed to produce arms for the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. By the 1970s, Brno’s sporting rifles had become internationally respected for their strength, reliability, and refined craftsmanship, standing alongside the world’s best controlled-feed bolt-action designs.

This ZKK-602, manufactured in 1975, is a strong example of Brno’s large-caliber dangerous-game rifle platform. Chambered in .375 H&H Magnum and fitted with a 25-inch barrel, it features a blade front sight paired with an adjustable V-notch rear equipped with flip-up leaves—an arrangement well suited for both close and extended-range shooting. The checkered walnut pistol-grip stock provides a stable, comfortable hold, with sling swivels positioned for field use. Built on Brno’s robust controlled-feed action, the ZKK-602 became a favorite among professional hunters and international sportsmen for its reliability in harsh conditions. This rifle reflects the peak of Brno’s sporting-rifle craftsmanship before the company’s shift away from arms production in the 1980s, making it a desirable and well-regarded example of mid-20th-century European rifle engineering.
