Bryant Ridge Auction Company is pleased to present this LIMITED EDITION single-action revolver for a penny-start auction; this is the Ruger New Model Single-Six Convertible Colorado Centennial!
This walnut-cased revolver, with two cylinders, is one of only 15,000 made to celebrate the Centennial of Colorado Statehood. Each cylinder has special roll engraving depicting significant details from Colorado's history and lore, as captured by the well-known artist James Triggs for Ruger. The grip frame, trigger, and hammer are stainless steel, and the grip panels are made of rosewood. This was the only officially authorized revolver for the centennial at the time. Another State centennial revolver would not be made until 1989.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger Single-Six Convertible operates with a mechanism that stands apart from other single-action revolvers. Its patented Ruger New Model design integrates a transfer bar system, a significant innovation that enhances safety and functionality. In this mechanism, the transfer bar is raised into the firing position as the trigger is pulled, transferring the hammer's energy to the firing pin. This system eliminates the need for a traditional “safety” notch, as the transfer bar ensures that the revolver can only discharge when the trigger is pulled, and the hammer is in the proper position.

This system eliminates the need for a traditional “safety” notch, as the transfer bar ensures that the revolver can only discharge when the trigger is pulled, and the hammer is in the proper position.
The Ruger Single-Six Convertible's loading gate only opens when both the hammer and trigger are fully forward. This action locks the trigger, hammer, and transfer bar in place, preventing accidental discharge. When the gate is opened, it allows the cylinder to be turned for loading or ejecting cartridges. Once the gate is closed, the cylinder latch operates as usual, removing the need for a separate loading notch.
The Ruger Single-Six Convertible is provided with two cylinders: one for .22 Long Rifle cartridges and one for .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMRF) cartridges. The .22 Long Rifle cylinder can also handle .22 Short and .22 Long cartridges.
Additional features of the Ruger Single-Six Convertible include windage- and elevation-adjustable rear sights, which enhance accuracy and target acquisition. The revolver’s chambering for rimfire cartridges makes it a cost-effective choice for shooting. Its transfer bar mechanism and loading gate interlock offer superior security against accidental discharge. The cold hammer-forged barrel contributes to exceptional accuracy and durability, while the extra cylinder allows for a quick switch between .22 LR and .22 WMRF cartridges, adding versatility to the revolver.
