The Remington Model 1100 LW-20 was introduced in 1970 as the company’s first purpose-built 20-gauge version of the popular 1100 semi-automatic shotgun. Unlike the full-sized 12-gauge model, the LW-20 featured a scaled-down, lightweight frame similar to that used for the 28-gauge/.410 Bore models, which helped keep its weight around 6.5 pounds. While it remained a bit heavier than some shooters might prefer—particularly younger or upland hunters seeking a lighter, more maneuverable gun—it retained all the classic Model 1100 features. These included a smooth gas-operated action, checkered wood furniture, ventilated rib barrels, and a blue finish. Available in Field and Skeet configurations, both had fixed chokes and were chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells. Though not as light as modern shotguns, the LW-20 delivered reliable 20-gauge performance within a proven semi-automatic design.
