Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger Model 44 Carbine, also known as the Deerstalker in its earlier years, holds a revered place in Ruger's history as a precursor to the iconic 10/22 and subsequent rifle models. Production ceased in 1984, yet its desirability among collectors endures. Unlike most Ruger firearms that utilize investment casting, the Model 44 was machined, adding to its rarity and appeal. Its design boasts classic lines and exceptional handling, enhanced in this instance by a practical Tasco 4x32 scope. Even today, this rifle remains a reliable hunting companion, offering a balance of lightweight maneuverability and potent .44 Magnum power suitable for tackling formidable game like mountain lions. The left side of the barrel is stamped and gold-filled with "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty," adding a touch of historical significance. Manufactured in 1976, this particular Model 44 Carbine embodies a piece of American heritage and craftsmanship. The decision to discontinue production of such a revered firearm remains a mystery, but until Ruger resumes production, acquiring this well-maintained example is a prudent choice for enthusiasts and hunters alike.
