The Smith & Wesson Model 13, commonly known as the .357 Magnum Military & Police Heavy Barrel, is a rugged and reliable revolver purpose-built for military and law enforcement use. Constructed on Smith & Wesson’s legendary K-frame, it serves as a .357 Magnum evolution of the heavy-barrel variant of the .38 Special Model 10, originally called the Military & Police. The Model 13 features a six-round capacity and is offered with either a 3-inch or 4-inch pinned heavy barrel, equipped with fixed sights (1/8" serrated ramp front and square-notch rear). To suit different preferences, Smith & Wesson produced round-butt models with 3-inch barrels and square-butt models with 4-inch barrels. Available in both classic blue and nickel finishes, the Model 13 provided options for style as well as performance. With a production run spanning from 1974 to 1999, it remains a notable example of Smith & Wesson’s commitment to durable, service-ready revolvers.
