The Python Target was an 8" blued or bright nickel Python chambered in .38 Special. There were 3,489 in Royal Blue, and only 1962 in bright nickel.

This example is more than likely Consumer Unfired as there is only faint powder residue on the cylinder face, which is indicative of the Factory Test Fire procedure.

The Colt Python is a .357 Magnum caliber revolver manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson's M29 .44 Magnum. The Colt Python is intended for the premium revolver market segment. Some firearm collectors and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Scott Wolber, Renee Smeets, and Martin Dougherty have described the Python as "the finest production revolver ever made."
In 1980, an 8-inch barrel Python was introduced chambered for the .38 Special. The Colt Python Target .38 Special was made in Royal Blue, and only 1962 Colt Python Targets were given the nickel finish.
Reeves Jungkind served the state of Texas as a Highway Patrolman from 1953 to 1992 with a long career as a firearms instructor, held several national championships, and was a skillful gunsmith who specialized in the Colt Python. The Jungkind is a double-action with the single-action left in the gun to make it legal for the distinguished match. A Jungkind double-action Python gives you a smooth trigger pull from the time you apply pressure to the trigger until the hammer falls.
