Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this limited edition semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the High Standard 1980 Olympic Commemorative!
In the 1950s, High Standard adapted their premium target pistols for use with .22 Short cartridges to compete in Olympic rapid-fire shooting events, which were dominated by European-made pistols at the time. In 1960, American shooter Bill McMillan won the rapid-fire competition at the Rome Olympics using a High Standard pistol, cementing the company's reputation in the sport. To commemorate McMillan's achievement, High Standard released a special edition of their pistols in 1980. Only 1,000 of these "Olympic Commemorative" models were made, featuring a “USA” serial prefix and their own serial number sequence. With only 1,000 units produced and their exceptional craftsmanship, Olympic Commemorative pistols are now highly sought after by collectors and remain a notable part of High Standard’s legacy in competitive shooting.
The High Standard Olympic Commemorative pistols came with serial numbers ranging from USA0001 to USA1000. This particular example wears the serial #USA0899, which makes it number 899 out of the 1,000 produced!

All markings are inlaid with gold.
