Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is one of the most iconic revolvers ever produced, chambered in the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge and offering a six-shot capacity. First introduced as the most powerful production handgun of its time, the Model 29 was available in a wide range of barrel lengths, including 3", 4", 5", 6", 6 ½", 8 3/8", and 10 5/8", with additional configurations available through the Smith & Wesson Custom Shop or independent gunsmiths. The revolver was offered in either a highly polished blued or nickel-plated finish, with certain variants, such as the 5-inch model, featuring a full-length underlug. Though eventually surpassed in raw power by revolvers chambered in larger cartridges like the .454 Casull and .50 AE, the Model 29 remains a symbol of strength, quality, and classic American handgun design. Its worldwide fame was cemented by its association with Clint Eastwood’s character “Dirty Harry,” further elevating its cultural and collector status.

This particular example is a Model 29-2, manufactured in 1980, featuring a blued finish and a 6-inch pinned barrel. It is equipped with a 1/8-inch red ramp front sight and an adjustable micrometer click rear sight, providing excellent precision and visibility. The revolver is fitted with smooth wood grips featuring finger grooves, offering both comfort and control when firing heavy .44 Magnum loads. As a double/single-action revolver, it delivers versatility for both deliberate, accurate shooting and faster double-action use. Representing one of the most desirable and collectible revolvers in Smith & Wesson’s lineup, this Model 29-2 embodies the power, craftsmanship, and enduring appeal that have made the Model 29 a legendary firearm.
