Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 66-1 is a distinguished double-action revolver chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge, also capable of firing .38 Special rounds. Manufactured from the early 1970s through to the mid-2000s, this stainless-steel variant is often considered a stainless counterpart to the renowned Model 19. Built on the K-frame, a sturdy and versatile platform, the Model 66-1 features a 4-inch pinned barrel, which is known for its accuracy and durability. The revolver's construction includes a checkered walnut grip adorned with the signature S&W medallions, providing both comfort and a touch of elegance to the firearm. Its robust stainless steel finish adds both visual appeal and resistance to corrosion, making it a reliable choice for carry or collection.

The Model 66-1 is equipped with a serrated ramp front sight with an orange insert for enhanced visibility, paired with an adjustable white outline rear sight for precise aiming. This combination allows for quick target acquisition and fine adjustments for accuracy. The revolver's action is smooth and responsive, operating in both double-action and single-action modes, providing versatility in various shooting conditions. The early models of the 66-1 were produced with a stainless steel rear target sight, though later versions featured the black target sight. It originally came with a 6-shot counterbored cylinder, which was later updated to a non-counterbored cylinder with a nominal length of 1.62 inches, marked with an "F" stamp on the cylinder face. Notably, the Model 66-1 also features a 10-groove serrated backstrap and forestrap for enhanced grip control. The revolver remains a classic piece for both enthusiasts and those seeking a reliable, high-performance firearm for personal defense or target shooting.
