In 1980, Weatherby commemorated its 35th anniversary with the release of a limited-edition Mark V rifle that exemplified the brand’s tradition of fine craftsmanship and performance. Only 1,000 of these rifles were produced, each individually numbered from C-0001 to C-1000, making them highly sought after by collectors. The rifles were chambered in a variety of classic Weatherby calibers, including .257 Weatherby Magnum, .270 Weatherby Magnum, 7mm Weatherby Magnum, and .300 Weatherby Magnum, with approximately 250 units produced in each caliber.

The stocks were made of exhibition-grade claro walnut, hand-selected for figure and grain, with a high-gloss finish and a rosewood forend tip and grip cap—both tastefully accented by maple spacers. A commemorative 35th Anniversary medallion was inlaid into the right side of the stock, while the floorplate is engraved with gold-filled artwork, which highlights the anniversary designation. The receiver and bolt body were polished to a mirror finish, and the bolt knob featured fine two-panel checkering, while the bolt itself was fully jeweled. Additional embellishments included gold-plated sling swivel studs and screws, along with matching gold-plated trigger. The barrels, typically 24 inches in length, were button-rifled and free-floated to ensure Weatherby’s famed sub-MOA accuracy.
The metal-to-wood fit was seamless, and the bluing was deep and lustrous, highlighting the rifle’s premium construction. Because of their extremely limited production and premium features, these rifles are rarely encountered, and when they do appear on the collector market, they command strong premiums.
