Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Hi-Power .30 Luger caliber, sometimes referred to as the 7.65mm Parabellum, was a relatively rare variant of the Browning Hi-Power pistol, produced primarily for European markets. Introduced in 1981, this version was chambered for the .30 Luger round, which had been a popular cartridge in Europe but was less common in the United States, where the 9mm Parabellum dominated. Approximately 1,500 units of this model were imported into the U.S. between 1986 and 1989, though they were originally intended for European sales. These pistols are often marked with "BAC" on the slide, an indication of their European production for the commercial market. Despite the difference in caliber, the Hi-Power .30 Luger shares the same design specifications as its more common 9mm counterpart, including its single-action, hammer-fired mechanism, 13-round magazine capacity, and the distinctive, ergonomic design that made the Hi-Power so popular.

The .30 Luger round itself is slightly smaller and less powerful than the 9mm Parabellum, but it retains similar recoil characteristics and offers respectable accuracy, making the Hi-Power .30 Luger an interesting version of the classic pistol. While it was not a major commercial success, it remains a noteworthy example of the Hi-Power's versatility and its adaptation to various calibers for different international markets.
