Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
In 1981, Remington introduced the first Limited Run Classic Model 700 chambered in 7mm Mauser (7x57mm) caliber, offering shooters a rare opportunity to match a classic American rifle with a classic worldwide cartridge. The Classic Model 700, which had been around since 1978, was designed without white line spacers, pistol grip caps, or contrasting fore-ends, featuring clean, traditional lines, a non-glare satin finish, and cut checkering. The Limited Run classic series was specifically chambered for classic cartridges like 7mm Mauser, .257 Roberts, .300 H&H Magnum, and the .250-3000 Savage in response to requests from American sportsmen for Remington rifles chambered for cartridges that were no longer in production with Remington. The decision to mate the modern 700 Remington Classic bolt-action rifle with these classic cartridges was well-received, especially the choice of the venerable 7mm Mauser, which has been praised by notable figures such as W. D. M. Bell and Jack O'Connor.
