In the mid-1950s, there was a movement to persuade S&W to include the highly capable .357 Magnum in the medium K-frame. Prior to this, the K-frame was home to .22, .32, and .38 Special revolvers. The K-frame is renowned for its excellence and has been argued to be the most produced "model" of handgun in history with over six million K-frame .38 Special revolvers manufactured by Smith & Wesson. The Model 65, a stainless steel K-frame .357 Magnum, was designed for combat and service duty. Unlike the Models 19 and 66, it lacks the ejector shroud. It has a similar appearance to the Model 10 and 64 but in stainless steel. The Model 65 is the stainless version of the Model 13 and features a 4" barrel.
