This Winchester 94 Carbine was produced to commemorate the Legend himself, “John Wayne”. The Winchester 94 Carbine “John Wayne Commemorative” was only produced in 1981 with an overall total of 49,000 produced. The serial numbers on the John Wayne Commemoratives range from JW1 to JW49000. This example bears the serial #JW1427, which makes it #1,427 out of the 49,000 produced.

Both flats of the receiver are nicely engraved with The Duke’s movies and scenes from the same.

The Winchester Model 1894 rifle, also known as the Winchester 94 or Model 94, is a lever-action repeating rifle that was designed by John Browning in 1894. It originally used two metallic black powder cartridges, the .32-40 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester, but in 1895, it became the first rifle to use the smokeless powder round, the .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire), which later became known as the .30-30. The rifle was produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company until 1980 and later by U.S. Repeating Arms under the Winchester brand until 2006, when they ceased manufacturing rifles. Reproductions of the rifle are now being made by the Miroku company of Japan and imported into the United States by the Browning Arms company of Morgan, Utah. The Model 1894 is often referred to as the "ultimate lever-action design" by firearms historians and was the first commercial sporting rifle to sell over 7,000,000 units.
