Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Trooper Mark V is a refined evolution of Colt’s mid-century double-action revolver lineage, blending robust mechanical design with shooter-focused ergonomics for duty, target, and recreational use. Built as a six-shot double-action/single-action revolver, it typically appears in popular service chamberings and offers a choice of barrel lengths to suit carry, range, or target roles. The design emphasizes a solid lockup, crisp single-action trigger break, and a smooth double-action pull—attributes that contribute to consistent accuracy and dependable operation. Externally, the Trooper Mark V is offered in both traditional blued and durable stainless finishes, often paired with target-style sights or adjustable rear sights and practical grip options that provide secure handling and natural pointability across shooting positions. Beyond its mechanical qualities, the Trooper Mark V occupies a respected place in Colt’s post-war revolver family as a versatile tool for shooters who value a balanced blend of power, control, and refinement. Its combination of service-grade construction, thoughtful ergonomics, and adaptable sighting and barrel configurations makes it well-suited for a range of activities—from precise range work and silhouette matches to professional duty use. Variants and special-order configurations over the years have expanded its appeal to collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate both Colt’s engineering heritage and the Mark V’s capable, purposeful platform.
