Bryant Ridge Auction Company is pleased to present this unique single action revolver today for a penny start auction, this is the Ruger Blackhawk .357 Rem Maximum!
At the time Ruger was manufacturing the 357 Maximum, the only source of factory ammunition was Remington and the only bullet weight they offered was a 158gr. In the 80's Ruger announced a recall for "Maxies", according to our research, there were issues with flame cutting in the top strap. Most guns that were sent into the recall were never fixed, but rather replaced with a new .357 Magnum Blackhawk in exchange.
This is a scarce example of a Ruger "buy-back" Blackhawk .357 Rem Maximum that was cut to take out of service! It also ship with 20 rounds of experimental .357 Remington Maximum ammo!
A set such as this rarely surfaces on the market. With approximately only 7700 sold to begin with, then the recall taking close to 50% of them, there is probably only around 3500 still in circulation! Not to mention the included ammo also being a discontinued caliber. This set is sure to catch the eye of Collectors!

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
In 1983, Ruger introduced its New Model Blackhawk chambered in .357 Maximum. It was a .357-caliber revolver utilizing a cartridge case .315 inches longer than a standard .357 Mag. The cartridge—intended for handgun hunters and metallic silhouette shooters—was designed to generate energy levels comparable to the .44 Mag., but without the recoil. After only two years of production, Ruger stopped manufacturing this high-performance handgun.
