Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Smith & Wesson Model 586 Revolver -Smith & Wesson makes it possible for you to own a piece of history-in-the-making with these Classic revolvers. They're the finest handguns possible, with designs harkening back to the most famous and collectible guns that Smith & Wesson ever constructed. Each is based on a model known for legendary performance and then enhanced with modern advantages. They're the timeless best of both worlds, Smith & Wesson Classics.

The Smith & Wesson Model 586 is a six-shot double-action revolver chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge; it will also chamber and fire .38 Special cartridges. The Model 586 has a carbon steel construction and is available in a blued or nickel finish. Built upon the "L" frame with a full-lug barrel...it is essentially the same firearm as the Model 686, which has stainless steel construction. It is also known as the Distinguished Combat Magnum. The production of the S&W Model 586 marks the first use of 3 letter 4-digit serial numbering system starting from AAA0001 to AAA0094 and again from AAA790 to AAA2005 and AAA4868 to AAB2003 in June of 1980.
