Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Colt approached their better distributors with a proposal to build a new model handgun, the Boa. These models are now EXTRAORDINARILY RARE & FEVERISHLY SOUGHT AFTER by collectors all around the world! This new .357 caliber handgun was originally intended to fall between the high end Python and their Mark V series. After a good deal of deliberation, Colt chose to make only 1,200 pieces for one distributor. Lew Horton Distributing in Southboro, Massachusetts saw the value of this limited run and bought it. 600 four inch and 600 six inch revolvers would be made. In an interesting twist, Colt numbered these guns so that consecutively numbered four and six inch sets would be available throughout the 1,200 gun production run. The Colt Boa is often thought of as a special version of the Colt Python revolver but, in fact, the Boa was a cross between a Python and a Trooper Mk V. This means that the Boa features the improvements of the Colt Trooper Mk V, including the improved smoother trigger with its shorter lock-time.
