Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 24-3 Lew Horton is a distinguished revolver chambered in the venerable .44 S&W Special, a caliber celebrated for its combination of power and manageable recoil. Manufactured as part of a limited run by Lew Horton in 1983-1984, it stands out due to its blend of classic design elements and modern refinements. The Model 24-3 was offered in several barrel lengths, including the rare 3-inch version, as well as more common 4-inch and 6.5-inch configurations. The 3-inch model, with its blue finish, round butt, and smooth walnut grips with finger grooves, is particularly prized for its versatility, offering both accuracy and compactness ideal for concealed carry. In this model, Smith & Wesson also removed the traditional barrel pin, a departure from previous designs, as part of a combat variation introduced with the Lew Horton Special.

The combat variation features a Red Ramp front sight, offering excellent visibility for quick target acquisition, especially in dynamic shooting scenarios. Paired with a micrometer-click adjustable rear sight with a white outline, these sighting enhancements ensure precision adjustments for windage and elevation, making the revolver highly accurate. Built on the robust N-frame with a square butt and three-screw configuration, the Model 24-3 provides a solid foundation for both heavy-duty use and superior shooting performance. The revolver is equipped with a 6-shot fluted cylinder and a serrated target trigger that provides a smooth, consistent pull, improving the shooting experience, especially for those who appreciate precision. As part of the Lew Horton Special, only 5,000 units of the Model 24-3 were produced, with 1,000 of those shipped with a special black holster. This limited edition revolver, with its blue finish, micrometer-adjustable rear sight, and elegantly designed walnut grips, is a coveted piece among revolver collectors. Its combination of classic styling and functional enhancements makes the Smith & Wesson Model 24-3 Lew Horton a sought-after example of craftsmanship, ideal for both shooting enthusiasts and collectors alike.
