Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this ABSOLUTELY STUNNING pair of guns today for auction, this is the Colt Double Diamond Set!

The set was made for Colts 150th anniversary and is comprised of a 6 Python and an Officer's ACP compact 1911. The handguns both have a bright polished stainless finish, special double diamond markings, and smooth rosewood grips. For the Python collector, the Double Diamond is distinguished not only by its Ultimate Stainless Steel finish and rosewood grips, but also as one of the few examples which shipped with silver colored medallions rather than gold. This is a very rare and collectible set of Colts. Only 1,000 of these sets were manufactured in 1986 and this is set number 803 (denoted by the serial numbers 0803DD & DD0803). This is a can’t miss opportunity for the dedicated Colt collectors!

This Colt Double Diamond Set becomes even more exceptional with the inclusion of its original factory shipper, a component that is almost never seen with these highly collectible sets. While most Double Diamond sets were separated from their shippers decades ago—lost, discarded, or damaged in storage—finding one that still retains this fragile, highly perishable packaging is extraordinarily rare. The factory shipper not only confirms authenticity and completeness, but also dramatically enhances the set’s desirability and value, placing it in the top tier of surviving examples. For serious Colt collectors, an intact Double Diamond set with its original shipper represents a true benchmark of condition and provenance—an opportunity to own one of the few fully complete sets remaining in the collector world today.

This example remains New Old Stock, showing no evidence of consumer use or handling whatsoever.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Example A
The Colt Officer's Model or Colt Officer's ACP is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, and recoil-operated handgun based on the John M. Browning designed M1911. It was introduced in 1985 as a response from Colt to numerous aftermarket companies making smaller versions of the M1911 pistol. In 1985, Colt developed their own in-house version and named it the "Colt Officer's ACP", the following year they introduced a lighter version with an aluminum frame known as the Lightweight Officer's ACP which weighed 10 ounces less (24 ounces). The main differences from a full-sized M1911 are 6-round magazines not 7-round, 7 1/8" overall length not 8 1/2", 5 1/8" height not 5 1/2", 34-oz not 39-oz, and most characteristically 3 1/2" barrel not 5".

Example B
The Colt Python is a .357 Magnum caliber revolver manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson's M29 .44 Magnum. The Colt Python model was intended for the premium revolver market segment and has become THE PREMIER COLLECTOR firearm. The stainless model colt was first manufactured in 1983
