Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Le Page brand is one of several adopted over nearly two hundred years by the firearms factory founded in Paris in 1717 by Louis Pigny, arquebus and sword maker. From its founding to its closure in 1913, the company always belonged to the same family, changing its name from time to time to Le Page, Moutier Le Page and finally Fauré Le Page. Highly esteemed by King Louis XV, who named him his favorite supplier, Pigny started a successful craft business that received a further boost in 1730 when he took on as an apprentice Pierre Le Page, who was born in Normandy and like so many young men of high hopes moved to Paris in search of opportunity. Pierre had already worked for other famous Parisian gunsmiths such as Jean Baptiste Mazillier (also known as Mazier). He was distinguished by his skill and in-depth technical knowledge of weapons.
Chiappa Firearms, also known as Armi Sport Di Chiappa, is an Italian firearms manufacturing company that was founded by Ezechiele Chiappa in 1958. The company is headquartered in Brescia but has a manufacturing arm, Armi Sport, in Dayton, Ohio. Chiappa Firearms primarily caters to target shooting, cowboy action shooting, reenactment, collecting, and hunting enthusiasts. Most of its firearms are reproductions of classic weapons, including old muzzle-loading pistols and Winchester rifles.
